Sustainable development is the process of change in which exploitation of natural resources, the direction of investments, the orientation of technological development, personal development and institutional change are reconciled with each other and strengthen the present and the future potential to meet human needs and aspirations.
The lecture of M. Z. Zgurovsky is given to the attendees of the Summer School and is devoted to the latest research results in the sphere of sustainable development, which are the objects of lively discussions not only among scientists but also among governments of different countries and international organizations. The concept of systematic combination of three main constituents of sustainable development of society - economic, ecological and social - forms the basis of the research. The lecturer presents the methodology of quantifying sustainable development of society, developed on the basis of World Data Center for Geoinformatics and Sustainable Development and the Institute for Applied Systems Analysis NTUU "KPI", will announce its forecasts about the influence of economic crisis and global conflicts on sustainable development of society in global and regional contexts.
