Elements of Robotics
Course duration:12 h
The course will provide general introduction into some of the core topics relevant to modern robotics and thus accompany the "Robotic project" course appropriately. It will consist of several independent parts:
- Basics of Electronic Prototyping. In this 4-hour hands-on workshop we shall review the basics of electronic prototyping, PCB design and manufacture using CAD/CAM tools (Eagle in our case), and soldering of both through-hole and SMD components.
- Introduction to OpenCV. The 2-hour hands-on session will introduce students to the de-facto standard computer vision library. Students will implement basic object detection and tracking.
- Basics of Control Theory. The 4-hour short course will introduce the classical notions in control theory and discuss several standard open- and closed loop control techniques for linear and nonlinear systems.
- Probabilistic Localization. The 2-hour lecture will present the Bayesian filtering techniques for robotic localization: Kalman and Particle filters.
