Applied Computer Science stream
сайт с нуля
Applied Computer Science (ACS) stream is a traditional part of the AACIMP Summer School academic program. This year lectures and courses of the ACS stream will be focused on Data Science and Data Analysis. In the modern world these fields are especially eminent due to the dramatically growing amount of data produced by the mankind. This implies that world economy is entering ‘big data’ boom when availability of efficient algorithms for data analysis becomes a key to economic growth, flourish of innovations and people prosperity.
What is proposed?
This year stream will be structured in the following way: first we will cover data retrieving, compression and storage techniques as a part of data manipulation phase, then we will look into some basic methods of statistical analysis, data mining and machine learning. Some lectures will be given on data visualisation and tools for data analysis. We will also study interesting real-world applications of above techniques: image processing, bioinformatics, social science, natural language processing etc. As the stream stands for ‘learning through doing’ principle, a number of practices for applying gained theoretical knowledge and training skills is planned.
Prerequisites
Basic calculus, basic probability theory and statistics, some previous experience with Python programming language, desire to explore and discover.
Number of credits:3 ECTS (P/F).
