Fractal is a nonregular, self-similar structure.
The term "fractal" was coined by Benoît Mandelbrot in 1975. At present fractals are widely used: they are applied in computer graphics for creating images of natural objects, in finances for course analysis of stock exchanges, foreign exchange markets and trade markets, in physics for modeling of nonlinear processes.
The algorithms of fractals’ construction, their classification and peculiarities of the most interesting fractals will be presented at the lecture. Students will have a chance to learn more about fractal way in characterization of complicated geometrical figures and about fractal’s applications.
