Recently we found themselves to be on the new stage of postindustrial society – a knowledge based society. There are new challenges: globalization, sustainable development, informatization and so on. All this requires a new explanation and understanding of the evolution of society, correspondence of the legislation and predicted scenarios of development.
A thought that processes which take place in the society, unlike physical or chemical, are too complicated and many-sided to be described mathematically is widely spread. But in fact modern development of knowledge in physics, mathematics, biology, cybernetics and system analysis give an opportunity to make such description and to model global social phenomena and processes. Under the global processes we understand the processes that are noticeable on long periods of time. It turns out that the factors of single person influence are no longer essential and the first place takes system relations and laws of development of all society in general.
Today, new methods, principles, models and simulation methodologies are developed for studying the social processes.
This course will introduce the perspectives of system analysis, mathematical modeling, and biology sciences for understanding, prediction and planning society’s organization. New problems and ways of their solving will be formulated and reconsidered. The brightest advances in the field of mathematical modeling will be discussed; new challenges and their solutions will be formulated. For example, globalization, sustainable development, the task of voting organization, spread of terrorism, electronic government, financial forecasting, urban development, transport and crowd movements, the history of civilization, etc. The lecturers will offer and give the description of classical and new models of social systems and processes: cellular automata, differential equations, active Brownian particles, network models, multy-agent systems and so on.
Language of the course – English.
