"Scientific Data Infrastructures for Interdisciplinary Problems"

A distinctive feature of our time is rapidly growing amount of data — both global and local, diverse and monotonous, valuable and redundant, complex and simple. For contemporary scientists it's both a huge opportunity and a challenge. With robust infrastructure for data transmission and data processing in place, we can now start to think about the next step: data itself. Scientific community should not waste resources on recreating data that have already been produced, in particular if public money has helped to collect those data in the first place. Scientists should be able to concentrate on the best ways to make use of data. Data become an infrastructure that scientists can use on their way to new frontiers.

To collect, curate, preserve and make available ever-increasing amounts of scientific data, new types of infrastructures will be needed. Given talk covers some aspects of developing scientific data infrastructures for solving interdisciplinary problems and recent achievements of Ukrainian scientists in that field.
