Alfvén Waves are the magnetodynamic waves that are spreading along the magnetic field lines.
They were named after the Swedish astrophysicist and Nobel prize winner Hannes Alfvén who suggested their existence in 1942. Not only the electromagnetic field, but also particles of conducting medium take part in the Alfvén waves.
At the lecture students will get acquainted with Alfvén waves, will receive the explanation of their ability to intensify magnetic field and transfer it at great distance. They will also know about interplanetary plasma, the Sun phenomena and the role of Alfvén waves in the processes that are happening in Earth magnetosphere.
