Course coordinator — Prof. Alexander Makarenko, Institute for Applied System Analysis at National Technical University of Ukraine (KPI), Ukraine.
Language of the course — English.
Recently the society and industry have entered a new stage of post-industrial society — the so called knowledge-based society. New problems arose: globalization, sustainable development, informatization etc. All this requires the new understanding and insight on the society evolution, intrinsic laws and foresees of development scenarios. Traditionally such understanding supply humanitarian sciences: philosophy, sociology, political science. But now development of knowledge in physics, mathematics, biology, cybernetics allows reconsidering the old problems of society on the strict (frequently quantitative!) background.
Now the new methods of analysis, new principles, new models and methodologies for considering society and forecasting had been developed.
So the session is devoted to the prospects of system analysis, synergetic, mathematical modeling, life sciences for understanding, forecasting, foresee and management of human society.
The bright general discovery will be discussed. Also formalizations and new solutions of real problems will be exposed. As the examples globalization, sustainable development, opinion formatting in society, voting, terrorism spreading, e-Government, financial forecasting, city development, traffic and crowd movements, history of civilization and many others will be proposed.
Cellular automata, differential equations, active Brownian particles, network models, multy-agent systems, system dynamics, new models proposed by A. Makarenko will be described.
First talks — Prof. A.Makarenko (Ukraine). Advances in mathematical modeling of human society.
